Race in the shadow of Venice — flat, fast, and uniquely Italian
Jesolo, Italy · May 3, 2026
IRONMAN 70.3 Venice-Jesolo combines world-class racing with one of Europe's most iconic settings. A sea swim off the Jesolo coast, a flat bike through the Venetian countryside, and a run along the Adriatic beachfront. Just 30 minutes from Venice, this race draws a large international field looking for a fast early-season European 70.3.
Swim Course
The 1.9 km swim takes place in the Adriatic Sea off the Jesolo beach. This is open-water sea swimming with potential for light chop depending on conditions. Water temperatures in early May typically sit around 17–19°C — wetsuit-legal and cool. The beach start and finish make for a straightforward course with good spectator access.
Bike Course
The bike course heads inland through the flat agricultural landscape of the Venetian hinterland. This is one of the flattest 70.3 bike courses in Europe — the terrain is pan-flat with virtually no climbing. The challenge comes from wind exposure on the open agricultural roads and the need to maintain focus on a course with few landmarks. Strong cyclists can put up very fast splits here, but the flat terrain means no freewheeling descents to recover — you're pedalling the entire time.
Run Course
The run course follows the Jesolo beachfront along the Adriatic coast. The terrain is flat and fast, with sea views throughout and crowd support concentrated near the finish area. The two-lap format means you experience the atmosphere twice, with the energy of the finish area lifting athletes on both passes.
Race Day Conditions
Early May in Jesolo offers warm but manageable racing conditions. Air temperatures range from 14–23°C with low humidity and typically light winds. The Adriatic coast benefits from a mild maritime influence that prevents extreme heat. This is one of the more weather-friendly 70.3s on the European calendar — comfortable for racing without the heat stress of later-summer Mediterranean events.
